Course Structure & Requirements
Booking & Induction - Once you book the course, you will be scheduled a meeting with the assessor. In this meeting we go through: course requirements; portfolio expectations; assignments; case studies; assessment timings.
Pre-Study Material & Exam- After the meeting you will receive pre-study / prestudy materials. On your first in-academy theory day, you'll have an exam based on that material. This ensures everyone starts with the required theoretical base.
In-Academy Practical Training- You will attend sessions in the academy to learn the hands-on micorpigmentation techniques for brows, lips and lashes. Demonstrations, guided practice.
Practice on Fake Skin + Regular Feedback- After learning basics, you practice on fake skins. You will send work to the assessor / receive feedback at intervals to monitor progress. This is critical before working on models.
Model Work- Once the assessor is confident in your practice, you observe a model demonstration, then move on to your own models under supervision.
Case Studies & Assignments- You must complete assignments and case studies across all areas (ombre brows, lip blush, eyelash enhancement).
Required: at least
3 case studies / treatments in each area. These feed into your portfolio.
Final Practical Assessment under Exam Conditions
Near completion, you return to the academy for assessment practicals under exam conditions. The assessor (and an Internal Quality Assurer, IQA) will observe. You bring your own model(s) for this.
Portfolio Review & Certification - If assessments are successful and portfolio is judged complete by assessor, it is passed onto the IQA. Once IQA approves, you can claim your VTCT certificate. If unsuccessful in any assessment, you will resit those parts as required.
Duration & Time Commitment
- On average: 9 to 12 months to complete, depending on how quickly you can practise and work through assignments/practicals.
- Time is required outside of academy days for practicing on fake skins and models, preparing case studies, completing assignments.
- Regular sessions with the assessor for feedback, plus planned academy days for demonstrations & assessments.
Assessments & Certification
- Theory exam based on pre-study material.
- Practical assessments throughout (fake skins, model work).
- Case studies & assignments in each treatment area (minimum 3 in each).
- Final assessment practicals under exam conditions with assessor & IQA present.
